One of your greatest assets as a blogger is your community.  The community gives you feedback, and tells you what you are doing right and wrong.  Without others to share your blog with, what is your blog really worth.  That is why I love my community.  Anyone who drops a comment, or an Entrecard is part of your community.  Heck, even a visitor is part of your community as they showed up!

Don’t abuse your community.  Don’t post so many advertisments that they are closing pop-up windows every ten seconds.  Also, don’t close comments on posts.  Comments are one of the things that makes a blog great.  PLEASE, if you do moderate comments, MODERATE THEM QUICKLY.  The thing I hate the most is when I go back to a blog a few days after my inital visit and my comment is STILL not posted.  Don’t make me yell at you.

Take care of the community.  VERY FEW bloggers are overly successful in their blogging.  Be it with readers, money or anything else.  You better be kind to the bloggers that do drop by.  They are not going to be Tyler Cruz, John Chow or the like.  They are going to be humble, like me and you.  They want to share their view and possibly give you a tip.  Make it easy for them.  Plus, follow up.  If the blogger includes a link in their comment, visit their site.  They will be very happy you did, especially if you leave a comment.

Hold contests to get your community involved.  It could be for a tangible prize, PayPal cash, or Entrecard credits.  It can even be for just a link.  Just because you don’t have money doesn’t mean you can’t have a GREAT contest.

Open a forum.  If your community is hopping in your comments, open a forum.  More than likely you will get a great new area for the members of your community to hang out, and spend more time on your site.  Plus, you can always put more ads on the forum.  Contest Blogger has opened a community, so have a lot of other bloggers.

Be PROACTIVE.  Go out and find other blogs that are in your niche.  Leave comments.  Strike up a discussion.  Make some headway to get your name into the blogging world and that niche in particular.

BOTTOM LINE: Get involved in your community!
