Social Media Networks suck. No, it’s not that they don’t reffer huge amounts of traffic to your site. And yes, it is theoretically possible to make a large amount of money from that traffic. However, for 99% of bloggers, it just will not happen.
My prime example here is going to be Stumbleupon, a widely used social media network known to most bloggers. One of my other sites, Amazincash sells different products through Amazon. The real cash is made when someone buys an item through one of the links on the site as they are all Amazon Affiliate links.
I’ve received nearly 4000 hits from Stumbleupon in a little over a week, not bad at all. However, my Amazon Affiliate account has received no sales through that tracking id. I have gotten plenty of adsense earnings and have recieved records of other sales through my other Amazon ID, what am I doing wrong?
I am doing nothing wrong. I am promoting the articles mostly through social media networks, I should be making money. However, if you take a closer look the Google traffic is at 15 hits. I need to rank higher on Google for some products to get some real conversions. Stumbleupon users are just on your site for an average of 3-5 seconds. If you have a visitor from Google, that time increases dramatically.
Bottom Line: DIVERSIFY YOUR TRAFFIC
There are so many different ways to get traffic. Not all of them are free, but most of them are. Just work at it and keep going in order to make money. Don’t forget to work on your keywords, once you get up to the top that can make you THOUSANDS!

Definitely diversity..but you have to also consider that your amazon id is somewhat new…when you have more than 50 posts, google and other search engines will come into play and you’ll see a turn over.
Just keeping plugging away.

That will be very true as well Jorge!

Totally agree, Google is one of the best conversions you can get.
Try adwords I used them a couple of months ago, and with a little tweaking you can really convert the traffic you get into sales.

Sir Jorge and I have been using a $100 voucher on a site. It has turned into any AA conversions but AdSense is up.

But has it recouped the $100 spent? If not then you still need to play around with adwords.
I hear it’s not that easy nowadays with adwords as it used to be, as there are a lot of people playing arbitrage on the network.
I haven’t tried it again since the first time I did, I think I have an e-book somewhere about it it’ll try find it for you it’s the one I followed when I tried it.

Thanks man. Keywords are REALLY expensive these days, like $10 per click…

Ryan I think you know about this, but your Google ads are on the worst spot possible, I’d be astonished if you even got 3 clicks a day with that placement.
Right now I’m a little bit pi**ed off at myself for not having my site monetized last night, I got triple the traffic I usually get mainly from stumble upon and digg and I didn’t have any ad network running! Could have made a couple of $$ easy.

Yeah, I am experimenting. Try this, I got FIVE clicks today, just in that placement.
HAHAHA! I’d be more than happy to help you setup ads with my AdSense account.

Bummer. I’d try ValueClick media. They have an interesting platform.
