I have and still do use several paid to blog companies on my other blogs.  However, due to the recent infamous Google Smack of 2007, I have been receiving very few opportunities to post for advertisers.  In general, I haven’t seen many people getting a ton of assignments from these companies.  What is the solution to this problem?

SELL YOUR OWN REVIEWS.  That’s right.  Everyone from the top A-List bloggers to the lowest echelons of spam on blogger have the ability to sell reviews.  The biggest sticking point is that you have to get advertisers to want to advertise with you.  Give them STATS.  Advertisers love looking at what sort of numbers you pull in, the more unique visitors, RSS readers, and page views you get the higher you can price your blog.

Update your advertising page to include these new reviews.  Price them to sell.  For example, on this blog I would charge $20 for a review.  Here is my reasoning(the most important part) behind that; I have received 2500 unique visitors,  I have 5 Rss readers(not a lot, but I am working on growing it), my readers are some of the best and brightest when it comes to making money blogging.  For this price, you get to keep the entire $20!  That’s not like one of the paid posting services that takes 35% off the top.  You get more money for your blog and more money in your pocket.

It’s not that any of the paid blogging companies is bad, they can be useful to catch big companies at times.  However, you can catch the everyday webmaster and smaller companies who want to advertise on your niche.  Be sure never to forget your niche.  That is your advertising gold.  Now, go sell your own reviews and make beaucoup money!

    Hi,

I have been getting an increase in companies asking me for text link advertising on my website. I am planning on running ads on my blog in 2008 and will set this up myself.

    NO THIRD PARTY SITES!!

So your idea is spot on to me.

By the way your feed stats are OLD NOW.

    I’ve just subscribed.

    Cheers,

Very nice article, some valid points you have here!

Who’s going to be the Entrecard winner? :)

Also, another key is to join those “middle man” sites and if you see advertiser’s leaving their contacts, then contact them directly… that’s how you find easy advertisers that are willing to pay AND you already know how much they’re willing to pay!
